Amazing French Fries in Houston
We can say thank you to one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Jefferson, for introducing “potatoes, fried in a French manner” to America in 1802. French fries have been near and dear to our hearts ever since. We’ve made them in all shapes and sizes, dipped them in sauces galore, and made entire meals out of them. Let’s celebrate this diverse and universal food on National French Fry Day – Friday, July 13th.
Oh My Gogi
Korean and Mexican flavors come together for an “oh my” explosion in every bite. Oh My Gogi food truck is roaming Houston offering sandwiches, quesadillas, tacos, dumplings, and today’s star, french fries. They have five creative french fry combinations to choose from. We recommend their OMG! fries loaded with Korean beef and colby jack cheese. You can find their weekly schedule on their Instagram and website.
Bar Boheme
Satisfy your french fry craving in style while sitting in a 6,000 square foot garden surrounded by Shona stone sculptures from Zimbabwe. Bar Boheme is quietly nestled in Montrose offering cocktails, beer, wine, and food. When a dish comes out and the entire table screams out to their excitement, you know it’s the Vietnamese Fries. We recommend ordering them Bangkok Style, which adds more flavors and smoked pork shoulder.
Hopdoddy
With locations in River Oaks, Rice Village and Vintage Park, Hopdoddy is hard to keep off the radar. They offer craft burgers and the perfect fries to pair. Spread the love with their sharable options, Parmesan Truffle or Buffalo fries. Shareables are just five dollars during happy hour, Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00pm.
The Burger Joint
Although burgers might be their stand-out menu item, The Burger Joint’s Bacon-Parm Fries are a must-add to your meal. Located in Montrose, this spot provides a modern twist to every old burger joint’s nostalgia. Pro tip, pair your fries with a boozy shake infused with 8th Wonder Brewery’s Rocket Fuel.
The French Fry House
Who said french fries had to be a side dish? The French Fry House. This hidden gem, located in Third Ward, provides a menu made for fry-lovers with a side of Boudin Egg Rolls. Choose from fry dishes like Buffalo Chicken, Shrimp & Crawfish Étouffée and beyond. Don’t forget to ask about their fry of the month!
Cedar Creek
When the server asks “fries or salad,” this one is a no-brainer. Cedar Creek, located in The Heights, has a robust menu with options for everyone. Their french fries are the perfect balance of soft and crunchy with a mouth-watering seasoning. Just when you think, “there is no way I could finish all of these fries,” boom, they are all gone! Step up your fry game and order the Piggy Fries loaded with roasted pulled pork, white cheddar queso, pico de gallo and chipotle ranch.
Crisp
Located in the Shady Acres neighborhood in The Heights sits a wine bar with a savory food menu and spacious outdoor patio. Crisp’s Truffled Parmesan Fries are a crowd favorite and pairs well with one of their 1,000+ wines or 22 craft beers on tap. Did someone say happy hour?
